Life began at 40  to Mala Ramadurai in Hindustani classical music.  Having trained in Carnatic music under vidwan Ayyalur Krishnan during her childhood and growing up years, Mala made up for lost time by learning Hindustani classical vocal from Pt. Yashwant Balkrishna Joshi, eminent exponent of the Gwalior gharana,

Her tryst with Carnatic music continued under the guidance of musical luminaries, vidushi D.K. Pattammal and vidwan Lalgudi G. Jayaraman.   Lalgudi Sir encouraged her to present  recitals in a 2-part format wherein I would sing Carnatic in the first half, followed by Hindustani in the second.  This helped her retain touch with Carnatic roots.

Having performed at several prestigious venues and leading institutions in India, the artiste also has to her credit,  performing tours across the USA.
