A dentist by training, Dr. Aravind Ranganathan  hobby has turned into a passion in the past few years with his research into some rare topics in Carnatic music. At age six, he began to learn to play the violin from T.H. Gurumoorthy (brother of Vikku Vinayakram). When in tenth standard, he discontinued his music training to focus on academics. After completing his post-graduation in Dentistry, he trained in vocal music under veteran vocalist R.Vedavalli for a few years.

While he has been studying the music literature/manuscripts since 2013, he has been giving lec-dems since the last two years on Life and Works of Walajapet Venkataramana Bhagavatar   Walajapet Manuscripts and their significance in understanding Tyagaraja Kritis Life and Works of Muthuswami Dikshitar  Ragas handled by Saint Tyagaraja
