She is a versatile public speaker, a lovable Tamil teacher and a warm person.  Sarada Nambi Arooran, a Mylaporean, whose name is popular within Tamil literary circles. Sarada, who began her career as a Tamil tutor in Queen Mary's College, went on to become the HOD of the same department. After more than three decades of service, she landed up as the commissioner.

She is also a globe trotter and has travelled to give discourses at the Kamban Kazhagams in Switzerland and Germany. She has also had a short stint in U.K. where she worked at the BBC's Tamizh Osai.
