Trivandrum Hariharan

Trivandrum N. Hariharan is the son of Sri H. Narayanaswamy Iyer& Smt. L.Sarojambal. He learnt mrudangam initially for 12 years from Vidhwan Trivandrum Sri V. Raveendran, who is a well-known disciple of Mrudangam maestro Umayalpuram K.Sivaraman. He has also successfully completed GANABHOOSHANAM, 4 years diploma course in mrudangam from Sri Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Trivandrum, where he also studied vocal music along with theory aspects of mrudangam. In order to have further intensive training in all the branches of mrudangam art, he became the disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Padmabushan Umayalpuram Sri K.Sivaraman since 2000. The Mrudangam Maestro has been giving advanced and rigorous training in all aspects which included accompaniment to vocal and instrumental music connected to this divine percussive art. Trivandrum N. Hariharan has taken mrudangam as his profession and he is a B grade artiste in All India Radio and Doordarshan. He has also worked as lecturer in The Thanjavur Vaidhyanatha Iyer School for Percussion, The Music Academy, Chennai for a short period. He has accompanied artistes like Gayathri Venkataraghavan Sikkil GuruCharan, M.S.Sheela, Salem Gayathri, O.S.Sudha, B.V.Ganesh, Manasi Prasad, Vaikom S.Padma Krishnan Jayamangala and Sangeetha Swaminathan. He has been playing in Kerala for the past 10 years and performing in the celebrated sabas like The Music Academy, Sri Krishna Gana Saba, The Indian Fine Arts Society, The Mylapore Fine Arts Club, Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha and other well known sabas in and around Chennai for the past 5 years. He has also played in the celebrated Chennai Sangamam festival. He has visited countries like Brussels (Belgium) and at Paris (France) and has performed konnakkol, the vocal percussion along with his revered guru mrudangam maestro Umayalpuram Shri K.Sivaraman and international artistes like Fabrizio CASSOL (Alto Sax), Michel HATZIGEORGIOU (Fender bass), St.phane GALLAND (Drums) Baba Sissoko (ngoni & tamani) and Magic Malik (flute).
